B&J's History

The B&J's bakery developed slowly, over many years of craft fairs. Back then, we didn't even have a name and my claim to fame was making Christmas wreaths for dogs! That idea was developed because I had received something very similar as a gift and thought the idea was too cute to keep to myself. I had to share it with everyone I knew!

For a while, I would use a store bought biscuit to make the wreaths, but found out they had bugs in them! I couldn't, in good conscience, sell buggy biscuits for people to sell to their beloved dogs. It was cheaper, but who wants their dogs eating bugs? So we decided to start baking our own homemade treats.

When Ben & I married in 1998, he became part of the empire. Little did he know that the business he always dreamed of having one day would be a doggie bakery!

I had a dear friend Judi, who owned a grooming salon called The Pampered Pup, and we started selling little things here and there. Sadly, Judi passed away, and I felt the best way to honor her as my business partner was to keep the name Pampered Pup as part of our company name.

The rest of our name became clear after Ben started having so much fun meeting and getting to know people, B (Ben) & J (Jane)'s Pampered Pup Bakery.

Our biggest leap of faith came one summer when an outdoor marketplace was started in our hometown, Kenosha, Wisconsin. We started baking so many treats that our kitchen became the bakery and we had to start cooking our food on the grill!

Although our Ben has passed away, we have kept the business going. It was his dream for us to be successful doing what we love, and although it is tough from time to time without him here, we keep going. Because of our determination, B&J's Pampered Pup Bakery is growing every week by meeting new people, stocking our treats in local stores and festivals and most of all the dedication of our faithful staff.
